Before exhaling

Perform full inhaling and air retaining (if applicable).

Full exhaling process

This process is inverse to the full inhaling.

  1. Release the upper section of your ribcage, exhaling slowly and smoothly.
  2. Exhale with the middle part of your lungs. Your ribcage narrows at this point and the diaphragm goes up a bit.
  3. Breathe out, contracting your abdominal muscles and the diaphragm. The more you contract them, the more air is pushed out.

After exhaling

If the pattern you are practicing has "sustain" phase, see air sustain for further actions.
If it does not have it - proceed to full inhaling.
If it was the last breathing cycle in your session - start breathing as usual.
